Join Us for the Passover Seder – A Night of Freedom, Faith, and Community

The Mukono Orthodox Jewish Community warmly invites everyone in our community and beyond to join us for a meaningful and uplifting Passover Seder evening.

As a proud Ugandan African Jewish community, our journey into Judaism is still young. Having embraced Torah life only about seven years ago, every Passover carries deep meaning for us. The story of liberation that we celebrate during the Passover Seder resonates strongly with our own journey of spiritual discovery, commitment, and growth in the path of Torah.

During the Seder we read from the Haggadah, eat the symbolic foods of the Seder plate, sing traditional songs, and retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt — the foundation of Jewish faith and identity.

“And you shall tell your child on that day, saying: It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.” Exodus 13:8

Our sages explain that each person must see themselves as if they personally left Egypt. Passover is therefore not only about remembering history — it is about recognizing that freedom, faith, and redemption are living realities in every generation.

For us in Mukono, this message is especially powerful. Our community’s return to Torah reminds us that the journey toward spiritual freedom continues in every place and every generation.

📅 Date: Wednesday, 1 April
📍 Venue: MOJC Community Center
🕯 Time: Nightfall (Candle lighting time)

The evening will include the full traditional Seder service, Torah insights, songs, prayers, and a festive Passover meal shared in unity and joy.

Everyone is welcome — community members, friends, visitors, and anyone interested in learning about Passover and celebrating with us.

Come and experience an evening of tradition, learning, and unity as we celebrate freedom together.

The Torah teaches in Book of Exodus that every generation must remember the Exodus as if they personally experienced it. During the Passover Seder on Passover, we reflect on the journey from slavery to freedom — a reminder that faith, redemption, and spiritual growth are possible in every place and every generation.
All are welcome to join us as we celebrate this powerful night together. ✡️
